Privacy Policy
How City Registry handles registry data, cookies, and advertising.
Effective date: October 29, 2026
Who we are
City Registry publishes a registry of US cities, towns, counties, and their public officials, compiled from state municipal directories. The site is independently operated and is not affiliated with any city, county, state, or federal government agency.
Contact: contact@cityregistry.org
Information in the registry
The registry contains public information about local governments and public officials, including names, positions, office contact details, and source links. It does not contain information about private individuals who are not public officials. Corrections can be sent to contact@cityregistry.org.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the server records standard request information such as IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and timestamp for security and operational purposes. We do not use a separate analytics service. Request logs are retained only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then deleted. The site does not offer user accounts or accept payment information.
Cookies and advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve and measure ads and to personalize advertising based on prior visits to this and other websites.
You can learn about and control personalized advertising through:
- Google Ads Settings
- AboutAds opt-out choices
- Google’s Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
Where required by law, we ask for consent before setting advertising cookies or using personal data for personalized advertising. You can change or withdraw your choice through the consent message shown on the site.
Consent
We use Google’s consent management platform, provided through Google AdSense, to collect and manage consent. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent message before personalized advertising cookies are used. Visitors in US states with an applicable opt-out right are shown a US state privacy message. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the consent message or the Google Ads Settings link above.
Third-party links and maps
Registry entries link to state and municipal source websites. Those sites have their own privacy and data practices, which we do not control.
City pages embed maps from OpenStreetMap. Loading a map sends your IP address, browser information, and the referring site to the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s servers. Those requests are governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s privacy policy, not this one.
Data sharing
We use service providers for hosting, security, and infrastructure. Advertising data is handled by Google and its partners as described above. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law.
Children
The site is a registry of government information and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of personal information. To make a request, contact contact@cityregistry.org. We may need to verify your request before responding.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site or applicable law changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when we do.
